Peary, peary happy

Kolsen turned 2 months old last weekend and I know it sounds so cliche but, seriously, where has the time gone?! He’ll have his two month check-up in a couple of weeks. Not really looking forward to that as he gets his first round shots. Poor guy. Here’s his one month and two month pictures:

He makes a double chin look goooood πŸ˜‰ Also, not sure what was up with his hair this day, but he’s rockin’ it either way.

He’s getting pretty good at holding his head up during tummy time!

Apparently I’m not interesting enough for him. When the TV is on, he’s in the zone.

This weekend I went to Minneapolis to celebrate one of my best friend’s birthdays. It’s been over 3 months since I’ve seen her last, so it was great to catch-up and get some much needed girl time together! This was my first weekend away from Kolsen and even though the weekend was great, I was so excited to come home to my boys! Β πŸ™‚

And this might just be one of my new favorite drinks.

It’s peary, peary good πŸ˜‰

My Pregnancy Favorites

Once you find out that you’re pregnant (and get over the shock like I did), a whole new world seems to open up around you. If you sign-up for the weekly pregnancy newsletters, you learn a TON of new information about what’s going on with your little babe and your new self. One of the first things that I did was started to research on what’s best for me and the baby – and through that discovery process (and trial and error), I found certain things that I probably wouldn’t have made it through my pregnancy without (a bit dramatic, but you get the point). These things might not work for everyone but they were things that made my pregnancy more enjoyable {doable} Β for me.

1. The Belly Button Band – This little baby was a wardrobe saver for months! What I loved about it is that it actually buttoned into my pants (where as the Target version just slides over it the top). Since the band was attached to my pants, I always felt covered and didn’t have to worry about it showing or riding up. Obviously, there was some movement in it, if there wasn’t you wouldn’t be able to walk or sit. Anyways, this let me wear my “normal” pants at least half way through my pregnancy. Plus you can’t beat the price from Overstock on this one at $18.99! {You can always use this post-pregnancy too which is awesome!}

2. Body Pillow – This came in very handy towards the end of my second and into my third trimesters. I was having bad back pain and sleeping with the body pillow in between my legs really helped minimize the pain.

3. Water Bottle – It’s important for everyone to drink a lot of water every day, but it’s even more important when you’re pregnant. Staying hydrated was great for my skin, keeping any swelling down (seems like it would do the opposite, but it doesn’t!), and overall feeling well. You’re already going to the bathroom what seems like every 5 minutes, so drink up!

4. Mama Bee Belly Butter – I love Burt’s Bees products and didn’t even know they made this stuff! I actually got this as a gift from a friend (Thanks, Allie!) and was so happy with it! Previously, I had tried Palmer’s but felt that it left my skin feeling oily and the smell bothered me too. I liked that it was natural fragerance-free and didn’t left my skin feeling soft and smooth.

5. Mama Bee Leg and Foot Creme – Again, thank you Allie (and Burt)! After a long day of work, this is just what I needed and wanted! The peppermint smell was amazing and left my legs and feet feeling relaxed and refreshed. *Note: This product is best used when applied by a loving husband πŸ™‚

6. LC Lauren Conrad Solid Leggings – Leggings are a pregnant girls best friend, I swear! Once my “normal” jeans and pants were just too uncomfortable, I moved into the wonderful world of leggings. Now, I know there are people out there that say “Leggings aren’t pants!” And while I do agree in certain circumstances, I think pregnancy is an exception to the rule. I always wore mine with longer cardigans or tunics and since it was winter, added a scarf. Yup, pretty much my wardrobe for the majority of my pregnancy. One of the reasons(besides comfort) that I loved the leggings from Lauren Conrad’s collection found at Kohl’s was that they were thicker than my previous purchase from Target. No one needs to see that. And the price was equally as great as Target, so it was an easy decision to grab a few pairs!

7. Long Tank Tops – I wear a tank top under 99% of all my clothes. I didn’t, however, want to ruin my “normal” ones. I found these great tank tops from H&M and went up a size. The price was awesome, so I made sure to buy a few in different colors.

8. Mango Pineapple Smoothie – My entire pregnancy I craved fruit smoothies. After making a few of my own (which obviously didn’t match up to restaurant ones), I fell for the Mango Pineapple Smoothie from McDonald’s. Yes, you read that right – Micky D’s. Fulfilled my craving immediately…kind of want one now too…

For those of you ladies who are expecting out there, hopefully this list will bring a little relief to you. Enjoy every minute ({as hard as it can be at times}, it really does fly by!

Seeing dots

It’s been a polka dot kind of week.

There’s something about polka dots that I love. Simply put, they make me happy. They have this classic 50’s inspired feel that can be easily mixed or paired with more modern pieces that have the ability to brighten and liven up any outfit or room. Heck, anything – I love ’em!

So I’ve had my nails painted like this for the last week and have gotten tons of compliments on them. They’re fun and yet the colors are toned down enough to make them office appropriate.

I have this pair of wedges that I got probably 4 years ago that I still absolutely love. They were a steal from Payless and I think only around $20.

Start seeing dots in a whole new light! And trust me, they’ll make you happy, too πŸ™‚
