Flakes…No, Not Snowflakes

For the last few winters I’ve noticed something embarrassing, annoying, and uncontrollable about my hair. Flakes. Yes, flakes. These lovely little flakes are then accompanied by static. Uncontrollable static. I feel like I’ve spent a small fortune on anything that MIGHT help. And nothing works.

I realized there was a lack of moisture in my hair and I was becoming desperate. I went as far as thinking that maybe if I rub a dryer sheet all over my head that it would help the static. Nope. Then there’s all these wonderful, silky moisturizing shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioners, pastes, gels, and foams that claim to help. Nada. Brands from the grocery store? Nothing. Brands from salons? Try again. Maybe they work for some, but I was having no luck.

So I thought that if I changed my grooming schedule a bit that that might help. I usually wash my hair every other day, but thought that maybe washing my hair every day would help. Yeah, right. It only made my hair drier. I felt like I was running out of options. You see, I’ve always been the type of person that just can’t seem to justify spending a lot of money on shampoos. After all, it’s just hair…right?!

Now, I don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier, but I have a very good friend who is a hair stylist and she is uhh-mazing! {I wish that we lived in the same town again so that I could still go to her.} So I texted her the other day explaining my little dilemma. She knew immediately what would help. Lifesaver! She recommended the “Pureology Hydrate System.”

I’ll admit it. I was intimidated by the price {the shampoo and conditioner are $27/each @ ULTA for 10.1 fl oz}. It seemed a little steep for my wallet {especially around Christmas time), but like I said I was desperate and I trusted what my friend said. So I made the plunge…..

And let me tell you, I couldn’t be happier! No flakes. No static. One happy lady! What I love most about the shampoo and conditioner is the mint in it. I feel like I have my own little salon at my house. My friend said that the mint also helps with the dry scalp and I’m a sucker for mint shampoos. They are also sulfate free which helps with the dryness and static that I was experiencing, leaving my hair silky smooth, shiny, and healthy. What girl doesn’t want that!? It’s safe for color treated hair as well and says it will help color last longer. I’m in and I’m hooked!

I’ve always known that all shampoos are not created equal. I still need to get used to spending a little more on shampoos than I’m used, but to NOT have flakes or staticy hair is pretty much priceless to me. And while I won’t be starring in a hair commercial anytime soon, at least I can feel like I’d be ready for one if something came up 😉
